Muscular Dystrophy is a name given to several conditions which have in common either the breakdown of muscle fibres or failures in the nervous system leading to weak and wasted muscles.
These sometimes devastating diseases can strike at any time. Some are apparent from birth, others in childhood, or later in life.
For the majority of these dystrophies physiotherapy is helpful and symptoms can be alleviated through careful management.
At the moment researchers are trying very hard to find treatments and cures.
